A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an better serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
